Autumn nights are drawing in and this is reflected in fewer members of the public at Mondya’s meeting. The Local Plan consultation response has been submitted and that also contributes to lower public activity.
A recent severe rainstorm once again highlighted some significant wet spots in the village and the council will be pursuing Surrey Highways to address these problem areas. Another matter for us to pursue with Highways is the use of ‘Road Closed’ procedures by utility companies who then carry out no, or limited, work on the road in question with the result that traffic is diverted for far longer than necessary. In fact the Highways team will be centre of attention this month as we are waiting for information on speed check programmes and other traffic calming work that appears to have fallen behind.
We are finding a number of our projects are still being delayed by post-covid recovery in various organsiations but hopefully increasing vaccination programmes and other policies will allow us to proceed at a fast rate very soon.
On a final note this month Councillors thanked and praised the organisers for a brilliant Newdigate Bonfire Night and commented on how good it was to see the village out enjoying themselves again.
Everyone is welcome to attend Parish Council meetings. The next one will be on Monday 13th December in the Village Hall starting at 8pm.
