August Report

The Parish Council met at the Village Hall on Monday 10 August. The public had been invited but only two people attended in person, others attended remotely. One of the main items for discussion on the agenda was traffic calming and dangerous speeding throughout the Village. Several suggestions were made about how to progress the recommendations from the survey of residents and an update will be given at the next meeting.

Progress was reported on the Parish Council’s involvement in the joint management and upkeep of the Newdigate Brickworks Nature Reserve. This is expected to be agreed with Surrey Wildlife Trust soon and in good time to start work on some safety improvements before the winter weather closes in again.

Several reports have been received recently about air pollution around Newdigate caused by burning of toxic and imported noxious waste. Various measures were considered by the Parish Council to assist the relevant authorities in combatting the problem and an update will be given at the next meeting.

The next meeting of the Parish Council is on Monday 14 September at 8pm and the public are welcome to attend. Social distancing remains in place at the time of writing and all requirements for holding public meetings will be observed.
