The Parish Council meeting was again held online on 8 March at 8pm. Meetings held online have not been particularly successful and have caused misunderstandings. Only personal attendance at meetings can enable councillors and residents to interact freely and positively. So we are all looking forward to a return to normality when proper meetings in the Village Hall are again permitted.
Following receipt of the grant for purchase of a kissing gate and countryside signs recently, there was a brief discussion about the most useful locations for installing them. Several suggestions have been received and these will be looked at in detail by the footpaths committee. Their recommendations will be considered by the full Parish Council at the next meeting.
The project to extend fibre broadband in the village is progressing and the offer from Open Reach is being looked at to ensure it is accurate. There will be a delay in getting the work done though as there is a big backlog to work through.
As the weather improves, Newdigateâs roads will again become a popular attraction for cyclists from far and wide. A list of contacts for the 15 cycle clubs operating within Mole Valley has now been received and this information will enable the Parish Council to contact the clubs to remind them to give notice when they are intending to visit the village and also to ask that they avoid coming in large groups on the same day and show consideration to other road users.
The next Parish Council litter pick will be on Saturday 26 June, if current restrictions are lifted.
